Weekend Use

• Westwood Middle School is available 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays
• Spring Lake Park High School is available 7 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays
• Reservations falling outside of this time may or may not be available. Please contact us for further details. 
• Centerview, Northpoint, Woodcrest, Park Terrace and the District Services Center are not regularly staffed for weekend use. Contact us for more information and options at other sites.

Non Student/School Release Day Use

Contact us if you'd like to use a school on a non-student day. Facilities may or may not be available due to district usage or staffing.

Community Education uses an online reservation system called Eleyo. You can use this system to view the availability of school conference rooms, gyms, Fine Arts Center, classrooms, athletic fields and more prior to making a reservations request.

Cancellation

• Cancellation must be made 5 working days in advance of the scheduled activity/facility use to receive full refund.
• Cancellation made by renter due to weather may be refunded at partial or full amount. 

Rental Use Timeline

• Large events with 100+ participants or weekend facility use requires 4 weeks notice to ensure staffing and facility space availability.
• Small and non weekend rentals we will try to accommodate with two weeks notice.

Facility Use Request

• All Facility Rental requests must be made in Eleyo, the online reservation system.
• Requests or communication with staff via email, phone or in-person do not supplant the requirement to enter into Eleyo.
• Requests will be reviewed in Eleyo. Once approved and scheduled, the renter receives formal confirmation.

Unless otherwise noted, facility rental rates are per hour. Rates are reviewed on an annual basis. Rates below do not include personnel, and other possible charges depending on the needs of the rental (please see Personnel Rates tab). The below rates take effect December 1, 2025. 

Class A

No Rental Charge for facility when facilities are typically open. However, a fee may be charged to groups using facilities when they would normally by closed—for example on weekends, holidays, summer hours and during non-custodial building hours.

• School, District and Community Education Activities
• Elections, school, federal or municipal public hearings
• City-sponsored recreation (city recreation may be responsible for associated costs if it is the only activity in the facility)

Class B or Resident/Youth/Non-Profit

There is a charge for these community groups within the Spring Lake Park Schools boundaries including non-profit community-based civic, youth, service, non-profit community sponsored athletic associations, non-profit community adult groups, area colleges and universities for academic use. Groups qualify as resident with 75% of participants district residents.

Spring Lake Park Schools Booster Organizations may be eligible for a 50% discount-dependent on the number of district employees in a coordinating/managing role at the event.

• School district community groups—non profit
• Boy Scout/Girl Scout organizations: regular meetings no charge

Class C or Non-Resident/Non-Profit Other/For-Profit

There is a charge for the following groups and any other activity not listed in the above categories.

• For-profit organizations and businesses
• Non-school district groups, 25% or more non-resident participants
• Private family functions
• Political groups (conventions/meetings)
• Athletic associations without local affiliation
• Other

The use of a kitchen must be arranged through your school’s kitchen manager and the Spring Lake Park Nutrition Services office at 763-600-5041. Please contact us as soon as you determine the date of the event and have received a permit for your event from the Facility Scheduler.

To ensure availability, your organization should submit an Online Facility Request to Nutrition Services soon after securing the facility. We suggest you make your arrangements for kitchen use at least two months in advance of your event.

1. No individual or group is allowed to bring food or beverages into a kitchen for storage or use the facility in without prior approval from the Nutrition Services Office
2. Any use of a district kitchen facility must include a Nutrition Services employee on site for the entire duration of the period of use at a charge of $40.00 per hour
3. The district employee will supervise the operation of equipment and use of the kitchen. Supervision does not include district staff preparation or clean up of the kitchen.
   • Supervising staff responsibilities:
     • Ensure health code rules are followed
     • Ensure equipment is properly operated
     • Ensure safety rules are adhered to when using equipment
     • Ensure proper hand washing and food safety standards are met
     • Ensure kitchen use is by adults only
   • Event sponsor responsibilities:
     • Order food items from pre-approved food sources. Absolutely no homemade items are allowed into the kitchen or kitchen areas.
     • Prepare all food or menu items for their event
     • Set-up
     • Sell and/or serve food items
     • Clean up, including washing pots and pans, prep tables and equipment used for the event
     • Return the kitchen back to its original condition
4. An additional charge of $75 per hour will be assessed to the event sponsor should district staff incur labor hours to return the kitchen back to its original condition. If you are unsure if the kitchen has been returned to its original condition, ask the supervising staff to inspect your final clean up before leaving the premises.
5. Additional district foodservice staff may be requested to work an event for an added $40 per hour per worker
6. No children under the age of 14 are allowed to be in any part of the kitchens due to food safety and Heath Department Regulations
7. No students under the age of 19 are allowed past the serving lines of the district kitchens into the equipment and preparation areas
8. Nutrition Services currently employs a linen service to provide towels, dishcloths, and other linens for our kitchens. Unless you supply your own linens and towels, you may incur a nominal fee for the use of linen supplies while using our kitchens. If you plan to use our linen, please note your needs of your service request form.

School Sponsored Events

When planning a school event, such as a spaghetti dinner or pancake breakfast, contact the kitchen manager at your school.

• Your organization must submit a Service Request Form to your kitchen manager at least four weeks prior to your event
• Final orders for food and/or supply items for school events must be given at least two weeks in advance to accommodate the delivery schedules of our suppliers
• Catering charges and pricing applies for these services. We are no longer allowed to purchase food off of District Food Services contracts for fund raising events, non-school events, banquets or any events not related to school foodservice needs
• Reminder: absolutely no homemade foods may enter district kitchens

Potluck Events

Local health departments do not allow potluck meals to be served from a licensed facility, the code states: “A potluck is a meal at which attendees bring food that is donated and shared by the attendees. A school may sponsor and hold potluck events in areas of the school other than the school’s kitchen, provided that the school’s kitchen is not used in any manner for the potluck event.”

Kitchen Rental for Commercial Use

Kitchens are not rented to individuals, groups, or businesses to prepare items to be sold outside of the school cafeteria. This includes individuals and school groups associated with the district.

Equipment Rental

All kitchen equipment is the property of the Nutrition Services Department. Equipment purchases are partially funded with state and federal subsidy money through the USDA and MN Department of Education--Nutrition Services and therefore are not available for rent to any district or outside groups.

Licensing 

All district kitchens are licensed facilities. All local and state health department rules, regulations and guidelines must be adhered to by the Spring Lake Park Nutrition Services Department and its assigned staff.

Our facility coordinator will work closely with the renter to ensure they have an accurate estimate before confirming any rental.

Additional charges that may apply (depending on Rate Category and needs of the rental):

- Building Supervisor:  $28/hr. (Required for all Class C rentals, and most Class B rentals.) 

- Custodian:  $55/hr. (Required for all weekend rentals at the elementary schools, Sat & Sun.)

- Fine Arts Center Supervisor:  $42/hr. (Required for all Fine Arts Center rentals.) 

- Fine Arts Center Tech:  $17/hr.  (Required for most Fine Arts Center rentals. More than one may be required depending on the scale and scope of the rental.) 

- Fine Arts Center Performance Package:  $200/day. (Includes access to all of our state-of-the-art A/V equipment in the Fine Arts Center)

- Weekend access:  $75/day.   (Applies to rentals on Saturday and Sunday, most Class B and all Class C rentals.) 

- Reservation fee:  $2/day/res.  (Required for all Class B & C rentals.)

- Stadium Press box:   Included with all stadium rentals. Renters must provide their own press box operators. SLP staff will train renters on press box operation.

It is our belief that all school facilities are community centers operating in partnership with other groups within the community. Review the Use of School District Facilities and Equipment Policy.

Outside organizations using the school district premises are required to furnish a certificate confirming liability insurance in the minimum amount of $500,000 per person and $1,500,000 per occurrence. We also require that District 16 be named as the certificate holder. If an insurance certificate is not provided by renter at least 5 business days before event the permit will be revoked and fee refunded less the cancelation fee.
